Making your kid excel and perform well in school is not solely the teacher?s responsibility but yours as well. As a matter of fact, most experts would claim that children who have parents that are actively supporting them at school also have improved chances of attaining success in the future.
There are many ways that you can help your youngster succeed in school. Here are five of them:
1. Be involved. Being involved in your youngster?s studies does not just mean assisting your child with homework. It also means joining school activities such as community clean-ups or school room meetings. Seeing your involvement will greatly assist in increasing your child?s interest in school.
2. Join them in studying. If your youngster is doing homework, study as well, read your favourite book or answer puzzles. In this way your child will see that you are not watching Television or pursuing some other form of idle entertainment while she is doing school work. This will help to make them concentrate on studying much better.
3. Ask your kid about his thoughts and fears about school. It?s an excellent practice to share your own personal stories about school, such as how frightened you may have been on your first day of school. Tell him or her that you also experienced the same concerns and assure your kid that he?s going to be able to succeed like you did. Hearing your stories will help foster your youngster's confidence, as he or she relates them back to their own circumstances.
4. Believe in your kid. Always remember words of encouragement like ?you can do it? or ?I am certain that you are going to just fine in your exams?. These words may be simple, but they suggest a lot to your youngster, particularly when their self esteem is still developing. Youngsters who think that they are loved and trusted by their parents are often the ones who perform well at school.
5. Make school as engaging for your child as possible. School work can at times be uninteresting so be creative. Younger kids would like to see more color and pictures, while older youngsters like to be more interactive. When learning is a lot of fun, your child won?t feel weighed down by studying.
