Make no mistake, the reason he?s being invited is to crush him and the EDL once and for all. If he manages to hold his ground, he could thrust the debate about fundamentalist Islam and mass immigration of their numbers into a national/international debate over night, and with new legitimacy.

EDL leader Tommy Robinson has accepted an invitation to speak at the Oxford Union.? He joins a long list of distinguished speakers and shapers of world events including Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, Ronald Reagan, and Henry Kissinger in being granted the honour of speaking at The Union.? In the words of?its website:

?The Union is the world?s most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. It has been established for 189 years, aiming to promote debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.?

Tommy is honoured by their invitation and looks forward to sharing the views of the EDL with the eminent scholars and orators of Oxford University.? They will leave the event with an accurate impression of the EDL and its leader rather than the unwarranted and libellous depictions of the legacy media.

However, not everyone is happy with the decision to invite Tommy to Oxford.? The usual shrill voices are already being raised in opposition.? The familiar cry of ?I believe in free speech but?? are now echoing around the dreaming spires.? There are clearly people in the university community who are afraid of real debate and the open exchange of ideas that used to be an essential part of a university education.

There are clearly those who only like Tommy to speak in a hostile environment.? If a fair hearing is provided they do not like it.? They attempted to stage a show trial on a recent BBC 3 programme, but ended up embarrassing themselves.

Nathan Akehurst writing in?The Oxford Student Online?made his views quite clear in his article entitled ?The Oxford Union must revoke Tommy Robinson?s invitation?.? In the article he resorts to the usual slanderous allegations voiced by the authoritarian left.? A tirade of name calling and unsubstantiated allegations are the main weapons of his opposition to the EDL.? He never backs up his arguments with actual evidence.

The reason he cannot provide evidence that the EDL is racist or fascist is because it is neither.? Quite the contrary, the EDL is an organisation founded on the values of classical liberalism as its?Mission Statement?makes quite clear.? Mr Akehurst would certainly benefit from attending the event organised by the Oxford Union and listening to Tommy?s actual views rather than those he has concocted in his own vivid imagination.

Divided Church of England renews pledge to ordain women bishops

LONDON (Reuters) - The Church of England's law-making body voted on Monday in favour of ordaining women bishops, but it will be at least two years before the measure, opposed by a minority of traditionalists, can be passed.

The vote was a boost for Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby who became head of the 80 million-member Anglican church in January, a few weeks after a blocking minority defeated the last attempt to allow women bishops in the English church, after 10 years of divisive debate.

After several hours of talks in York at the Anglican body's national assembly, the General Synod, members voted overwhelmingly to pursue reforms to allow women bishops as a "matter of urgency".

A committee will draft legislation that will be reviewed later this year but it is not likely to be given final approval before November 2015.

" affirms an inclusive approach that is consistent with our previous resolution: the commitment to ordaining women bishops on exactly the same basis as men, and the flourishing together of all parts of the Church," said Welby, 57, who is seeking to modernise the image of the church.

Dozens of Synod members spoke to urge the Church to move forward from the "train crash" of November's shock result at the assembly - when a decision to ordain women bishops failed by six votes - and to return to a "path of reconciliation".

"This better-than-expected result has drawn a line under last year's disaster and lays the foundation for new legislation to permit women to be bishops," said Robert Key, chair of the House of Laity, one of the Synod's three chambers.

"It is only the start of a two-year process, but the Church of England is on the march again under new management."

GNAWING ANXIETY

The route to final approval might still be rocky despite apparent strong support.

"This time the Synod used a straightforward vote that just needed a simple majority. If it had been voted in this way in November it would have got through too," said Paul Handley, editor of the Church Times newspaper.

In November, the measure received 73 percent of the overall vote, but fell short of the required two-thirds approval in one chamber. The Synod could demand the same system of voting be used again.

Conservatives demonstrated significant opposition. "There will be a sense of gnawing anxiety on our part if we go down the route as it stands," said Rod Thomas, chairman of the evangelical group Reform.

The Church approved the ordination of women priests in 1992, but delayed making them bishops because of opposition within its previously all-male clergy. Bishops play a key role in many Christian churches where only they can ordain new clergy.

Women already serve as Anglican bishops in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States, but Anglican churches in many developing countries oppose any female clergy and are working together to shield themselves against such reforms.

Rebecca Swinson, a reformer and member of church think-tank the Archbishop's Council, said the next generation would wonder what all the fuss was about.

"My big hope is that my children will know a different normality to me and that they will not hear the words 'women bishops' ever again," she told the Synod.

It?s not a bad thing if you guys decide to continue helping him out by paying off the rest of the loan. But I don?t want you to feel as if you?re obligated in any way. No deal has been broken here, and you haven?t reneged on a previous agreement. But there?s absolutely nothing wrong with a young lawyer earning a living and paying off his own debt. He can roll up his sleeves and clean up the mess he participated in making.

If you do decide to pay it off, that?s an incredibly generous gift. In my mind, it should be met with much gratitude and appreciation. It should also be accompanied by a signed letter of agreement from him stating that he will never, except in the case of a 15-year, fixed rate mortgage, borrow money again.

In other words, I?d want to see some kind of permanent commitment and recognition of the fact that you guys have changed your family tree. I?d want this kid to be affected in a deep and profound way by this gift; so much that his kids would also be affected in a positive way by your behavior and by his in the years to come!

Is there a downside to refinancing your home often?

Dear Katrina,

There?s really no downside to this, as long as each time you do a refinance you lower your interest rate enough to allow you to recoup closing costs before you move. In other words, you have to first make sure the numbers work.

First, calculate the amount of money you?ll save as a result of a refinance. The way to do this is by multiplying the interest difference by your loan balance. If you have a $200,000 mortgage on a 5 percent loan, and you refinance to a 3 percent loan, that will save you 2 percent per year, or $4,000. Next, look at the refinance costs. What are the closing costs in order to refinance? If it?s $10,000, and you divide that by $4,000, that says it would take two and a half years to get your money back. If the costs are $8,000, it would take you two years to get your money back if you?re saving $4,000 a year. That?s pretty substantial!

What I just laid out is called a break-even analysis. Basically, it answers the question of how long it will take you to get back the money you spent on closing costs with the interest you save. That will give you the answer as to whether or not you should refinance again.

So, there?s not really a ?you?ve done this too often? rule. If you refinance three times in a year, it would only be smart if interest rates have dropped significantly throughout that time. Doing a refinance to save an eighth of a percent won?t work out well for you.

The Food Duo: Stay Chill in a Heatwave: Margarita Fruit Salad

It's summer. It's end of the long 4th of July weekend. And it's HOT here in NYC! Though we worked and studied over the past few days, we did make time to enjoy the company of others, which included an office party and a picnic in Central Park. For each, I made a Margarita Fruit Salad as dessert, which was pretty simple to do. In fact, you can mix together your favorite fruits with a margarita-style "dressing" for the 21 and over crowd!?

What's great about this recipe is that you can use just about any fruit combination you like. However, I probably wouldn't recommend bananas. Hey, but if you LOVE them, try it out!?

Chilled Margarita Fruit Salad?

Serves: 10-12

Ingredients:

• 7-8 cups of your favorite fruit, cut and chopped (I used melons, strawberries, blueberries and oranges)
• 1/4 c. of organic raw sugar
• Juice of 1 lime
• 1/4 c. of orange marmalade or strawberry or black cherry preserves
• 1/2 c. of your favorite tequila
• Pink Himalaya salt to finish (optional)

Directions:

1. Add your cut and chopped fruit to a large bowl. Sprinkle sugar and toss.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together lime juice, marmalade or preserves and tequila until well combined
3. Pour mixture over fruit and toss together.?
4. Cover bowl with lid or plastic wrap and chill in freezer for about 2-4 hours
5. Before serving, sprinkle a couple of dashes of Pink Himalaya salt (optional)

Notes:

• If you want to be the host(ess) with the most(ess), have each guest run a lime wedge around the rim of a dessert glass and roll it in salt or sugar before ladling fruit into it.
• Rather drink than eat your fruit salad, simply blend up the salad with some ice cubes and you're all set!
• Don't drink, replace the tequila with cold water. Coconut water is also a nice option!

The film treats imagination-and talent-in certain hands as an almost mystical force.

Ozon and the script move a little too far afield and hold on a bit too long as the film approaches its end. Still, "In the House" has enough trippy truth to it to grab your interest and shake your mind.

It's fiction about life that becomes fiction that might be life - and the viewer happily dives in.

The expected punch line... never materializes, so I guess this must be a drama after all.

Savor In the House for its meta-exploration of adolescence, class resentment and suppressed desire, but don't expect much more.

The seductions of storytelling drive "In the House," a cleverly structured comic thriller rich with narrative trickery and macabre humor.

These characters are messed up and yet there I was, sitting in the back row of the cinema, with a smile on my face.

A cinematic bouquet of surprising left turns and addictive story hooks. Strongly recommended.

Provocative, playful, entertaining and audacious, In the House is a writer showing us the inner workings of writing, complete with its power to subvert, to imagine and to deceive
