Eric N. Macey, co-founder of Novack and Macey LLP, a business litigation firm based in Chicago, has been selected as a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers. The prestigious society?s membership is limited to 800 lawyers worldwide adjudged by their peers and judges to be outstanding in the field of advocacy. Mr. Macey will be one of only 30 Illinois litigators in the Society.

?The Society seeks to honor the role of the trial lawyer in our system of justice,? said Donald H. Beskind, the Society?s administrative director. One of its principle goals is the preservation of the adversary system and the jury trial. Mr. Macey notes that he is extremely privileged to be selected to join the Society and join the company of exceptional advocates who are its members.

Mr. Macey is considered one of the country?s top commercial litigators. His clients include corporations and institutions, investment ventures, partnerships and high net worth individuals. He has extensive trial experience in state and federal courts throughout the country. He has lectured extensively, particularly in the areas of litigation management and the use of information technology in litigation.

Mr. Macey is an instructor with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, and is an Adjunct Professor for many years at Northwestern University School of Law teaching courses in trial advocacy and discovery. He is a member of the Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and is a member of the Chicago, American and Energy Bar Associations. He serves on the Advisory Board of The Institute for Energy Law. Mr. Macey is the immediate past President of the Chicago-Lincoln American Inn of Court. He has also been selected as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and is regularly selected by his peers as an Illinois ?Super Lawyer.?

Mr. Macey?s charitable contributions include his service as Chairman of The Posse Foundation in Chicago and a member of its National Board. The Posse Foundation identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes, and places them in supportive teams or ?posses? of 10 students, each of whom receives a four-year full tuition scholarship from Posse?s partner universities.

Mr. Macey received his A.B. (1973) magna cum laude from Princeton University. He received his M.A. (1975) in Communications from the Annenberg School of Communications, University of Pennsylvania, and his J.D. (1978) with High Honors from the George Washington University Law School, where he was a member of the George Washington Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He currently resides with his wife Denise in Winnetka, Illinois.
