Series win for India against Zimbabwe but both Virat Kohli and Brendan Taylor still see room for improvement

Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor was upset on Sunday after his team lost the bilateral series against India 3-0. Virat Kohli on the other hand was happy with his team's effort but said his fast bowlers needed to learn from the Zimbabwe pacers who effectively used the new ball.

In the series so far Zimbabwe have failed to win a single match in the series so far. Some of the team's players showed some spirit with their performance with the bat and ball but have failed to come together as a team and defeat India.

For India, Virat Kohli has contributed with the bat in the first and third ODI coupling a century with an unbeaten 68. Shikhar Dhawan, Amit Mishra and the rest of the team have also risen to the occasion helping their captain lead the team to a series win.

For Kohli, this was the first time he was leading the side and this win will boost his morale.

"Was important to win to seal the series. Early breakthroughs with the ball, and not that difficult a total to chase down. We are not setting any goals, did not think we had to seal the series today. Zimbabwe still have some inexperience in the line-up and it is about gaining experience. I am one of the few experienced guys in this side and I am trying to take responsibility," said Virat Kohli after the win.

Brendan Taylor on the other hand speaking about his team's performance, "I think (the problem is) mental toughness. I don't think we're mentally sharp enough. We're just not making the precise decisions at the right time and not putting a real price on our wickets. Too many soft dismissals."

The skipper said dealing with Indian bowlers might be tough but not impossible and a bit of patience was all that his batsmen needed to have.

Virat Kohli while speaking to the media said though the team had a win under their belt he still saw room for improvement. The 24-year-old said, "Zimbabwe still have some inexperience in the (batting) line-up. Their bowlers have bowled in good areas. They know how to bowl on these wickets. They are using the two new balls well. Our fast bowlers can learn from them."

The next two matches will technically be dead rubber matches. But with both teams looking for improvements the upcoming matches promise to be better and closer if both teams achieve the improvements their captains are seeking.

Radio, TV personality David 'Kidd' Kraddick dies

David "Kidd" Kraddick, the high-octane radio and TV host of the "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" show heard on dozens of U.S. radio stations, has died at a charity golf event near New Orleans, a publicist said. Kraddick was 53.

The Texas-based radio and television personality, whose program is syndicated by YEA Networks, died at his Kidd's Kids charity function in the New Orleans suburb of Gretna on Saturday, said publicist Ladd Biro in releasing a network statement.

"He died doing what he loved," said Biro, of the public relations firm Champion Management, speaking with AP by phone early Sunday. He said he had no further details on the death.

The "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" show is heard on more than 75 Top 40 and Hot AC radio stations and is a leader among most-listened-to contemporary morning programs, Biro said. The radio program also is transmitted globally on American Forces Radio Network while the show's cast is also seen weeknights on the nationally syndicated TV show "Dish Nation," he added.

"All of us with YEA Networks and the "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" crew are heartbroken over the loss of our dear friend and leader," the network statement said. "Kidd devoted his life to making people smile every morning, and for 21 years his foundation has been dedicated to bringing joy to thousands of chronically and terminally ill children."

"He died doing what he loved, and his final day was spent selflessly focused on those special children that meant the world to him," it added.

The Dallas Morning News reported Kraddick had been a staple in the Dallas market since 1984, starting in a late-night debut. The newspaper said he moved into morning show work by the early 1990s in that market and his show began to gain wider acclaim and entered into syndication by 2001 as he gained a following in cities nationwide.

Kraddick would have turned 54 on Aug. 22, according to Biro.

The network statement said the cause of death would be released "at the appropriate time."

Many fans, celebrities included, tweeted condolences and talked about the death on social media sites. One Texas radio station where he was a mainstay ran photographs on its website of Kraddick at the microphone.

Word of Kraddick's passing spread quickly via social media.

"RIP Kidd Kraddick. You were an amazing man and a friend. You are already missed," Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban tweeted.

"Oh Man, I just heard Kidd Kraddick died! He's my childhood dj. What a sad day. His poor family. He was always nice 2 me from the beginning," singer Kelly Clarkson tweeted.

Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, only recently announced as the headline act of a planned first-ever Kidd's Kids charity concert in Dallas next month, wrote: "The sad sad news about Kidd Kraddick is shocking. He will be missed greatly."

Richie Tomblin, described as the head golf professional at the Timberlane Country Club in Gretna on its website, told AP that Kraddick wasn't looking well when he saw him getting ready for Saturday's charity event.

"He came out and he borrowed my golf clubs and went out to the driving range," Tomblin told AP when contacted by phone. "It's kind of a freaky situation. He came out. He practiced a little bit. He hit the ball at the first tee and wasn't feeling good and after that I didn't see him."

Tomblin said the hundreds of amateur golfers taking part went ahead with the event Saturday. He added he only found out afterward that Kraddick had died and he was still shaken about it.

"I'm still trying to figure it out. I really don't know what happened. Everyone keeps texting me asking, 'What's going on?' I really don't know," said Tomblin.

He added he was reluctant to even touch the set of clubs Kraddick had borrowed Saturday for his practice swings.

Hudson wedding party boat crash: Driver had 'signs of intoxication' - sheriff

A boat carrying members of a wedding party struck a barge in the Hudson River Friday night. The boat's operator was charged with first-degree vehicular manslaughter Saturday. NBC's Lester Holt reports.

By Tracy Jarrett and Alastair Jamieson, NBC News

The pilot of a speedboat that crashed into a barge on the Hudson River while carrying six members of a wedding party, including the bride-to-be, was charged on Saturday with vehicular manslaughter.

Jojo John, 35, was also charged with three counts of vehicular assault over Friday night?s crash, said Rockland County Sheriff William Barbera, according to Reuters.

"There were signs of intoxication," Barbera added, although lab test results were still pending.

John was in custody at Nyack Hospital Saturday night where his condition was ?critical,? according to hospital spokesperson Lauren Malone.

The best man, identified as Mark Lennon, was still missing after the accident. The search was suspended at 5 pm local time on Saturday and was set to continue on Sunday morning.

One female body was found discovered adrift and without a life jacket not far south of the Tappan Zee Bridge, Rockland County Undersheriff Robert Van Cura told NBCNewYork.com.

Four others remained in the hospital Saturday while investigators continued their search, it reported.

The Coast Guard said six people were on a 21-foot Stingray near Piermont, N.Y., when it hit the barge at around 10:40 p.m. local time on Friday near the bridge.

The accident happened shortly after the boat left Piermont for a short trip across the river to Tarrytown, Rockland County Sheriff's Department Chief William Barbera said at a news conference on Saturday morning, according to the Associated Press.

"While the Rockland County Sheriff, N.Y. State Police and U.S. Coast Guard continue to investigate this tragic incident, the New York State Thruway Authority is conducting its own review of safety procedures on the Hudson River as part of the New NY Bridge Project,? said Brian Conybeare, special advisor to the governor, in a statement.

The bride-to-be, identified by family members as Lindsey Stewart, 30, was to get married on Aug. 10, relatives told NBC New York.

?Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time," Conybeare added.

Groom-to-be Brian Bond, 36, is among the four injured passengers, who were described as suffering severe injuries, including head trauma and broken bones. Bond is in ?fair? condition at Westchester Medical Center, according to spokesman David Billing.

Some of those injured are awake and providing information to investigators. Bond, however, is currently unable to speak due to his injuries, Walter Kosik, the bride?s stepfather told NBC New York.

Police said that while it would have been dark in the area at the time of the crash, the barge was lit up.

"At this point, Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC, has reported to the Thruway Authority that all Coast Guard lighting requirements were met and that the barges were properly lit Friday night. All lighting was checked Saturday morning and is fully operational at all barge locations associated with the project,? Conybeare said in the statement.

How far must we go in tracking meal breaks? ? Business ...

Q: Must nonexempt employees enter the time they leave and return from lunch, or can we assume that they took their lunch hours unless otherwise noted in their time records?

A: The Fair Labor Standards Act doesn?t require employers to give meal breaks. If you give meal breaks, always exercise caution when making assumptions. You should have a procedure to allow employees to alert you when they don?t take their meal breaks.
