Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce after five years of marriage, Cruise's representative has confirmed to TODAY.com.

"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," Holmes's attorney Jonathan Wolfe told?People magazine. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

Daughter Suri is 6. Cruise, 49,?and Holmes, 33, wed in?the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle outside of Rome?in 2006. He had proposed at the Eiffel Tower.

Cruise drew media headlines in May 2005 when he declared his love for Holmes and famously jumped on a couch on the set of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Early in their courtship, Holmes revealed that Cruise was her first?celebrity crush, and she?started pining away for him in 1983 when she was four years old and saw him in ?Risky Business."

Cruise was married twice before, to actresses Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rogers. It was Holmes' first marriage.

Cruise will turn 50 on July 3.

Automatic Homefinder for Romy | Kids | Parenting Advice ...

It?s almost midnight but I?m still awake chatting with my friend Romy. You see, he is currently living in Canada and he has been working there for almost 5 years now. He was lucky enough to have a great decent job there where he was able to pay all his debts he left in our country and was able to save a lot for his future.

And because he was employed in a big company, he was promoted to a step higher from where he is and now he will be relocated to Colorado and manage one of the company?s branch there. Wow! It has been his dream of living in Colorado since we were in high school. You see, most of families are already living there but unfortunately, they cannot help Romy in terms of his immigrant visa and petition. Good thing, Romy was lucky enough to have the chance thru his employer.

As I?ve said, he will be relocated Colorado specifically in Denver. He is really excited about this one but before he could go there he needs to settle some things with regards to his house. Apparently, his employer told him to find and choose what house he wants and where in Denver. He actually wants a condominium unit but if the price fits the company?s budget for his relocation, he?s better off in choosing a good home, right? So, as a loving and loyal friend I thought of helping him by recommending an Automated Homefinder that I recently used with one of my client. Thru this homefinder he would be provided with information that he needs for him to buy the house or condo he wants. The best thing about it he can specifically narrow his search by cities and can browse all available units of Denver downtown real estate and see it for himself in pictures. Awesome, right? Anways, I really hope this will aid him a lot in finding his new home. Goodluck bro! :)

Americans signed more contracts to buy previously occupied homes in May, matching the fastest pace in two years, the National Association of Realtors said. It was the latest signal that the housing market is improving in many regions following a slump of more than six years.

Homebuilders soared. Lennar Corp. jumped $1.31, or 5 percent, to $28.70. That company had reported earlier that its second-quarter profit rose as it boosted deliveries and new orders. PulteGroup, D.R. Horton and Hovnanian Enterprises also rose sharply.

Earlier, the government said that businesses placed more orders for long-lasting manufactured goods in May, suggesting that their confidence in the U.S. economy was not shaken by signs of weakness that emerged this spring. Core goods, a measure of business investment plans, also jumped.

The reports "were really quite good," boosting hopes about the economic recovery after three months of weak output and abysmal job growth, said Dennis Gartman, an economist and editor of The Gartman Letter, a source of daily market commentary.

"The economy is doing reasonably well and will continue to muddle on through," Gartman said.

The Dow closed up 92.34 points, or 0.7 percent, at 12,627.01. Coca-Cola rose $1.26, or 2 percent, to $76.34, after saying it will invest another $3 billion in India's rapidly growing consumer market over the next eight years.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 11.86 points, or 0.9 percent, to 1,331.85. Its biggest loser by far was auto parts maker O'Reilly Automotive, which fell $13.83, or 14 percent, to $82.61. O'Reilly said its second-quarter earnings will be at the low end of its earlier estimates and sales will be weaker than previously expected.

H&R Block leapt 58 cents, or 4 percent, to $15.67. The tax preparation company posted a lower fourth-quarter profit than analyst had expected, but the company gained valuable market share while cutting jobs and closing stores to focus on electronic tax filing.

The Nasdaq composite average rose 21.26 points to 2,875.32.

Investors remain wracked with concern about Europe as leaders there prepare for a two-day summit aimed at defusing their lingering debt crisis. German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned Wednesday that there would be no quick solution to the structural issues plaguing the continent.

Europe will cause volatile stock trading in the coming weeks because the summit is unlikely to produce a lasting solution, Gartman said. The meeting is scheduled to be two days, he said, but Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti promised to keep it going until Sunday if an agreement has not been reached.

"I think he can keep them there until Sunday five weeks from now and there's little chance they'll agree," Gartman said.

Life Before Baby and Moving Before Baby Arrives | Being Pregnant

292530 428018163875520 1890757746 n 300x300 Saying Farewell to a Home Our Child Will Never Know

The decision to move came somewhat out of left field for us. We knew it was something we should do before the baby arrived. And since we?re not even pregnant yet, we would have likely been fine in our current apartment for quite some time. But, alas, we?re moving in two days.

As I pack what?s collectively become Sara?s and mine over the past two years, as I take down the pictures from the walls, and as I walk around an apartment that?s slowly looking less and less like home, it?s strange to think that our child will never know the home in which she or he first became a twinkle star.

This is the first place Sara and I lived together. Our first home together. It?s where we became moms to the four-legged kind when we rescued our sweet Darla. It?s where we celebrated our first Christmas. Had our first marital fight. Ordered Thai food every Monday night. It?s where we first learned who sucks at washing dishes and who has a terrible habit of not brushing her teeth before bed. This is where we lived when her parents agreed to meet me after two years and ten days of loving their daughter. This is where we lived when I asked Sara to marry me. This is where we lived when we decided to have a baby.

As I look at the becoming-bare walls, I try to remember them as they were ? remembering the first days after we moved in. Sitting in the window seat, looking out on the street, waiting for Sara to come home from work. I remember when the city had to replace a pipeline; they needed to undo the cobblestone street stone by stone. The pile of cobblestones sat on the sidewalk for days while they repaired the pipeline. One evening, while walking our dog, I told Sara how much I?d love one of those cobblestones as a keepsake of our first home together. She laughed at me.

?Babe, it?s just a brick,? she said.

I always have been the sentimental type.

I box up our dishes. Pots. Pans. Boxes of tampons (Yes, we have boxes. Two women in the house, what can I say). I toss clothes I haven?t worn since I met Sara. And I hire a moving company. I?ve moved an outrageous amount of times in my 34 years of life, some by choice, others having been decided for me through breakups ? yes, I?ve been dumped; can you imagine? ? but all moves have always accompanied a constant struggle of becoming who I am.

Except for this move. There is no struggle.

But there is an entirely new feeling that I can?t quite pinpoint. It?s not exactly sadness. Perhaps reflection of the future. Can you do that? Can you reflect from the future? I don?t know, but that?s what it feels like. I think of so many of ?our first? memories in this home while I pack, and it?s a strange ? I do not know what other word to use to describe it ? feeling. To know that these are times and here are memories that our child will never know. Sure, we can share the stories. But this is life without our baby. So much is about to change. And while I so much so look forward to the future with the family we are about to create, I don?t ever want to forget these moments.

I am glad we?re moving before the baby, before the pregnancy even. I?m glad I have all of myself to focus on this time, and don?t have the added stress and emotions of doing any of this while I?m pregnant. I?m glad I can recall everything this home has meant to us over the years, and put each memory in its proper box.

But mostly, I?m glad Sara surprised me one day with a stolen cobblestone from the first street on which we ever called home.

Bad Posture tells you to sit up straight, replaces your mom with an Arduino

Bad Posture tells you to sit up straight, replaces your mom with an Arduino

At certain point in every geek's life, their mother gives up and stops yelling at them to sit up straight. If the lack of constant reminders to maintain good posture has you slouching and hunching, there are countless technological substitutes. Even a few nice DIY ones. But we've got to give Ellen Sundh props for the simplicity of her solution. While similar projects rely on accelerometers, which can be difficult for the budding hobbyist to work with, to monitor the angle of your body, Bad Posture sticks with a simple bend sensor to keep tabs on your spinal cord. The flexible plastic is arranged vertically in a fabric belt that also houses an Arduino, a Wave Shield from Adafruit and a push button for calibration. Sit at your optimal angle, press the button and you're ready to go. Bend too much and the Wave Shield plays a warning -- "bad posture!" Check out the video after the break to see it in action.

Women & Co: Give Yourself the Gift of Time: 3 Time-Saving Strategies

By Jacqueline Cadogan, Marketing Operations Manager, Women & Co.

What would you do with an extra ten minutes today? What about an hour? We all know time is a precious gift. No matter how we spend them, the hours, minutes and seconds seem to fly. As a result, we're constantly looking for new time-saving strategies. Are you looking for ways you might be able to shave a few minutes off of your daily routine? Keep reading to learn how ladies just like you get through their to-do lists with time to spare.

"Take advantage of your evening hours." -- Angie, 35, mother of 2, Richfield Park, NY

With busy schedules both in and out of the office, many women face the daily challenge of juggling competing priorities. For tips on how to bring calm to the chaos, I recently sat down with Angie, a 35-year-old mother of two from Richfield Park, New York. Since Angie has a busy office job, she spends her mornings and workdays focused on her job. But how can you maintain razor-sharp focus at work with a family of four? Her advice is take full advantage of your evening hours to ensure calm, peaceful mornings. How does she do it? Strategic-yet-practical multitasking. For example, family dinner is a top priority in Angie's household, but so is a nightly check-in with her mother. To maximize her family time, each night when the family sits down to dinner, Angie opens up her laptop and uses that opportunity to connect with her mom via Skype. Once the kids are off to bed, Angie makes time to enjoy some entertainment and squeeze in a few daily chores, prepping baby bottles and making the kids' lunches while watching TV or listening to the radio.

"Use technology to simplify your life and save precious time." -- Lauren, 30-something mother of one, New York, NY

As a working mom who regularly utilizes technology to increase workplace efficiency, Lauren is always searching for new techie ways to shave time off of her daily tasks and errands. Case in point: as a devout e-shopper, Lauren purchases groceries online through FreshDirect.com, saving herself a weekly trip to the food store. But recently, life got even simpler. Lauren discovered the FreshDirect app which allows her to shop from her previous orders. To reclaim some time (that would otherwise be wasted in line at the grocery store) on the weekend, Lauren uses this handy mobile technology to order her weekly groceries while she waits at her daughter's ballet class each Saturday.

Lauren also saves time by avoiding ad hoc trips to the store to pick up various household items. For basic baby and childcare needs, she hops online and heads to diapers.com. Falling oil prices put Iran over U.S. sanctions barrel

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - For most of this year, the threat of tough U.S. sanctions on Iran, the world's third-largest oil exporter, helped push crude oil prices higher and higher, adding a menacing headwind for struggling global economies.

But in the past few weeks, a combination of higher output from Iran's rival Saudi Arabia and economic troubles in China and Europe have pushed oil prices down 25 percent, putting the threat of sanctions back squarely on Iran.

As June 28 approaches - the day the law allows U.S. President Barack Obama to enforce sanctions on countries that do oil deals with Iran's central bank - Washington is revving up efforts to tighten the squeeze on Tehran.

Lawmakers in Congress hope to finalize in July a new package of sanctions aimed at further crippling Iran's oil revenues after international talks in Moscow last week failed to convince Tehran to scale back its nuclear program.

"Thanks to Saudi production increases and the slump in Europe, it appears that we can have our cake and eat it too," said Suzanne Maloney, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution's Saban Center for Middle East Policy.

"We can exact a painful price on Tehran for its recalcitrance and avoid any blowback to our own economy, at least in the near term," Maloney said.

Countries in the West believe Iran is working on building nuclear weapons, while Tehran has maintained its nuclear program is strictly for civilian purposes.

Iran's oil exports have fallen as much as 1 million barrels per day, worth about $90 million as the sanctions and an EU embargo starting July 1 push its crude customers to seek alternatives, according to industry sources.

Iran, OPEC's second-largest oil exporter, has a reserve fund of $80 billion to $100 billion that can shield its leaders from the drop in revenues, analysts say, but that cushion only pushes sanctions backers to turn up the pressure.

"Enough is enough. It's time to fully implement crippling sanctions on Iran," said Howard Berman, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

"We must finish the process of cutting off Iran's access to the global financial system, close loopholes in sanctions on the Central Bank of Iran, and tighten the screws on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the regime's energy and shipping industries," Berman said.

NEXT UP: MORE SANCTIONS

Congress wants the White House to push even harder on Iran. Last December, before Obama had even signed off on the banking and oil sanctions, the House of Representatives had already passed two more bills with additional punitive measures to close what lawmakers see as a laundry list of glaring loopholes.

The Senate followed, finally passing its version of the bill in May. The sanctions are designed to crack down on transactions with Iran's national oil and tanker companies, and hamper Iranian banks' ability to transfer funds electronically.

"House and Senate stakeholders are meeting now and comparing preliminary drafts of a final sanctions law," a congressional source said.

To quickly sort out the differences between the two versions, the bill may be ping-ponged "between the chambers" rather than negotiated through a more formal conference process.

"We're trying to see if we can get the House either to largely accept what we put through, or to come to what would be a quick staff conference that would lead us to a final conclusion that we could ratify," said Democratic Senator Robert Menendez, who helped craft the Iran sanctions package.

Some lawmakers want to add provisions to address loopholes they believe may allow Iran to move money through accounts held by others, including from energy companies.

Also in play is a proposed U.S. ban on insurance to oil cargoes, except for those countries that have received exemptions allowing them to continue a lower level of imports.

Menendez said "one or two" new measures may be added, but said he favored quickly moving the existing bill.

"While there's things I'd like to see, I'd be happy to impress upon the Iranians that we're going to continue to ratchet up the consequences," Menendez said.

Obama also has opportunities to crank up the pressure. His administration has granted exemptions to the sanctions to every major buyer of Iran's oil but China. Japan, for instance, got an exemption for cutting purchases for about 20 percent.

In coming months, the administration could push buyers to cut purchases even more, because the sanctions law requires it to update the waivers every 180 days, said Kenneth Katzman, a Persian Gulf expert at the Congressional Research Service.

But to do that, Washington may need Saudi Arabia to keep production near current levels, the highest in decades. And that is no sure thing, given weakening prices. "This probably cannot go on indefinitely," said Brookings' Maloney.

Spain requests bank aid, Moody's downgrades banks

MADRID (Reuters) - Spain formally requested a European bank rescue on Monday but lack of details kept investors fretting and Moody's cut the ratings of most Spanish lenders, citing the government's reduced ability to support them and the likelihood of higher property losses.

In a letter to Eurogroup Chairman Jean-Claude Juncker sent early on Monday, Spanish Economy Minister Luis de Guindos said he wanted to take up the EU offer of up to 100 billion euros ($125 billion) and hoped to finalize the package by July 9.

He did not specify how much money Spain will seek to recapitalize the indebted lenders and said the final amount and conditions of the assistance were still under discussion.

Ahead of reports of the Moody's downgrade, Spanish banking stocks <.iban.bc> closed down 4.9 percent on Monday, underperforming the blue-chips index <.ibex>, which fell 3.7 percent. Spain's country risk, as measured by the spread between German and Spanish benchmark bonds, rose to around 518 basis points.

Moody's downgraded the ratings of 28 of 33 rated banks, by one to four notches, following a cut to Spain's sovereign rating to just above junk status earlier this month.

"The reduced creditworthiness of the Spanish sovereign...affects the government's ability to support the banks," the credit rating agency said in a statement.

"The banks' exposures to commercial real estate will likely cause higher losses, which might increase the likelihood that these banks will require external support."

The downgrade included Spain's largest two lenders, Santander and BBVA and left the long-term debt of Bankia , which requested a bailout last month, at junk status.

Moody's said it would assess the impact of the euro zone recapitalization on banks' creditworthiness and bondholders once details on funds to individual banks were known.

Economy Minister De Guindos said an independent audit of the banking sector released last Thursday would be used as a starting point to determine the capital needs, to which an additional security buffer will be added.

The audit showed Spanish banks, badly hit by a property crash four years ago, need up to 62 billion euros to weather a severe economic downturn.

Analysts say the euro zone's fourth largest economy, which has become the focus of the debt crisis, will struggle to get out of recession unless the banking problems are solved.

According to financial and government sources, four nationalized banks - Bankia, CatalunyaCaixa, NovaGalicia and Banco de Valencia - will get the bulk of the aid. These banks could need a cash injection of around 40 billion euros as soon as July, the sources said.

The bailout mechanism - European Stability Mechanism or European Financial Stability facility - which will be used to raise the money will be chosen at a later stage.

This choice is important because the ESM has a preferred debtor status which would push private bondholders down the queue for repayment of their investments.

NO LOSSES FOR BONDHOLDERS

Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, who chairs monthly meetings of euro zone finance ministers, said he had received the request and would give an answer "in due course".

"We expect to give a mandate to the Commission, in liaison with the ECB and the EBA, to negotiate the necessary policy conditionality for the financial sector, including restructuring plans in accordance with EU state aid rules, which shall accompany the financial assistance," he said in a statement.

The European Commission usually requires banks which receive aid to sell assets, close branches and restructure.

This would, however, not involve imposing losses on banks' bondholders, something De Guindos ruled out on Friday.

Secretary of State for Economy Fernando Jimenez Latorre said on Monday the aid should reach the banks within three or four months and that transitory liquidity mechanisms would be used for the entities which require a lifeline earlier.

"In the next weeks, we will clear doubts about the seniority of the European aid, the conditions for the credits, the maturity, if it will affect the deficit," he said.

He added that the possibility of channeling the European aid directly to the banks was still an option. The request letter, however, said Spain's bank restructuring fund, known as the FROB, would receive the money and distribute it to the lenders.

DIRECT AID?

Documents released on Friday after the independent audit showed Spain will carry out yet another stress test of its banks by October with a focus on seven lenders that might not need aid right away but could still be vulnerable.

Doing the extra test gives Spain at least two more months to negotiate for direct recapitalization of the banks. The government wants to avoid taking on the aid itself and then channeling it to the banks, which would affect the public debt, potentially ramping up borrowing costs and dragging it further into the debt crisis.

Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo said on Monday that Spain would insist on having long maturities and low interest rates on the loans. He also said direct European aid for the banks was still an option.

Spain has escaped conditionality for its economic policy in return for the financial assistance but it will be placed under increased scrutiny from its EU partners.

"The way Spain complies with any and all of its commitments will be looked at with more attention than for a country which has not sought financial assistance," said EU competition chief Joaquin Almunia on Monday.

Almunia will be in charge of supervising the restructuring of the banking sector and maintaining a level playing field with other lenders in Europe which did not receive state aid.

Islamist leader declared president of Egypt

CAIRO (AP) ? The Muslim Brotherhood's Mohammed Morsi was declared the winner of Egypt's first free presidential election Sunday, and he proclaimed himself a leader "for all Egyptians," although he faces a struggle for power with the country's still-dominant military rulers.

The announcement by election officials touched off a joyous celebration of chanting and dancing in the sweltering heat by tens of thousands of Morsi's supporters jamming Tahrir Square, the birthplace of the uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak 16 months ago.

It also capped a week of growing political tension in the streets after authorities delayed announcing the results of the runoff election between Morsi and Mubarak's former prime minister, Ahmed Shafiq.

Tanks and other signs of heavy security had been deployed around the country, especially outside state institutions, in anticipation of possible violence reminiscent of the first days of last year's revolution.

President Barack Obama telephoned the U.S.-educated Morsi to congratulate him on his victory and offer continued support for Egypt's transition to democracy. The White House said Morsi expressed appreciation for Obama's call and "welcomed U.S. support for Egypt's transition."

The reaction from Israel was subdued, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying he respected the results of Egypt's democratic process and hoped the peace agreement between the two countries would remain intact. Ecstatic residents in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip filled the streets, fired guns in the air and handed out candy.

Speaking on Egyptian television Sunday evening, Morsi declared he had a "message of peace. We will respect all international agreements." He did not mention Israel but the remark seemed to be a reassuring nod to respecting the peace treaty.

Morsi won 51.7 percent ? a margin of only 800,000 votes ? over Shafiq, a former air force colonel who was perceived to be the military's favorite, the election commission said. Turnout was 51 percent.

"I tell everybody in this memorable day, that because of your choice, your will, and after God's favor, I am a president for all Egyptians," the 60-year-old engineer, professor and former lawmaker said in his speech, delivered stiffly as he read from notes.

Monday's editions of Freedom and Justice, the Muslim Brotherhood's newspaper that bears the same name as the group's political party, bannered the headline: "The street explodes with joy, the people write history: Morsi President of Egypt."

It was a stunning victory for the Muslim Brotherhood, a group that was outlawed under Mubarak. But the liberal and secular youth groups that drove the uprising were left wondering whether Egypt has taken a step toward becoming a repressive Islamist state, or a new power sharing agreement between Morsi and the military ? the traditional power brokers.

"This is not the best scenario I anticipated," said Sarah Kamal, a liberal activist who was in Tahrir Square when Morsi's victory was announced. She ululated and cheered for him despite criticism from many of her friends that Morsi would endanger a secular Egypt.

"I know they have sold the revolution short before. But they are better than the 'felool,'" she said, referring to the remnants of the old regime. "I will stand with the Brotherhood against the military for now, and later I will fight off the Brotherhood's hold," she added.

In his speech, Morsi sought to reach out to the activists by paying tribute to the nearly 900 protesters killed in the uprising. "I wouldn't have been here between your hands as the first elected president without ... the blood, the tears, and sacrifices of the martyrs," he said.

A week ago, when the polls were closing in the runoff election, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) issued constitutional amendments that stripped the president's office of most of its major powers. The ruling generals made themselves the final arbiters over the most pressing issues still complicating the transition? such as writing the constitution, legislating, passing the state budget? and granted military police broad powers to detain civilians.

A few days before that, a court dissolved the freely elected parliament, which was dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood, leaving the military also in charge of legislating.

According to the constitutional declaration, the new president won't appoint the defense minister and will lose the title of "Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces."

Tens of thousands of Morsi's supporters vowed to stay in the square, pressing for the reversal of those actions by the generals. Mohammed el-Beltagy, a leading member of the Brotherhood and former lawmaker, said the protesters would not leave until the military fulfills its promises to hand over power to a civilian president by July 1.

"The military council must live up to these demands or it would be reneging on its promises, he told Misr 25, the Brotherhood's TV station. "We are against any confrontation, or violence, or clashes or obstruction of state institutions. We are a peaceful revolution that will insist on meeting its demands."

The defiant tone of el-Beltagy highlighted the fine line the 84-year-old Muslim Brotherhood group has had to tread amid high expectations from a president with little authorities and a powerful adversary.

The military's moves had drawn international condemnation from human rights groups and the U.S., raising fears that the generals wanted to undercut Egypt's democratic experience and entrench military rule.

The ultra-conservative Salafi party Al-Nour has mediated between the Brotherhood and the military to ensure a "smooth gradual transition," said Youssri Hamad, a spokesman for the group. Hamad didn't discuss details of the mediation but he said this was in part behind the delay in announcing the election results.

The armed forces have been the source of power in Egypt since a military coup in 1952. Since then, it has acquired vast economic interests ? giant construction companies, farms, water-bottling facilities and a nationwide chain of gas stations? as well as leading government posts. Civilian oversight has been one of the demands of the revolutionary groups.

The Brotherhood still controls the panel that has been given the task of writing the constitution, although the military-drafted declaration allows the generals to object to any article in it or form a new panel altogether if the panel is unable to continue its work. Liberals and secular activists have accused the Islamists of trying to dominate the writing of the new charter. There are also concerns the new constitution may try to limit the political role of the military.

Morsi also faces enormous challenges of improving the economy and maintaining law and order ? both of which deteriorated in the post-Mubarak period.

Pro-democracy leader Mohammed ElBaradei urged unity after the results were announced.

"It is time we work all as Egyptians as part of a national consensus to build Egypt that is based on freedom and social justice," he wrote on his Twitter account.

Naguib Sawiris, a Coptic Christian business tycoon who joined a liberal bloc in voicing opposition to the Muslim Brotherhood on Saturday, said he expects Morsi to send a reassuring message to Egypt's Christian minority who represent around 10 percent of the population of 85 million.

"There are fears of imposing an Islamic state ... where Christians don't have same rights," Sawiris told the private TV station CBC. Morsi "is required to prove the opposite. ... We don't want speeches or promises, but in the coming period, it is about taking action. ... He was not our choice but we are accepting it is a democratic choice."

This is the first time modern Egypt will be headed by an Islamist and by a freely elected civilian. The last four presidents in the past six decades have all come from the ranks of the military.

"Before the revolution, we were forced to choose between Mubarak's ruling party and the Muslim Brotherhood (as the opposition). The revolution was about creating a third power, the people ... who are not seeking power but are seeking real change in the dynamics of power in Egypt," said Lobna Darwish, an activist who has boycotted the elections.

"I am happy the Brotherhood won because now the revolution will continue on the street against both of them, the Brotherhood and the SCAF," she said.

Khaled Abdel-Hamid, a leading leftist politician, said Morsi also needs to address the issue of meting out justice to former regime officials implicated in the killings of protesters in the uprising. Mubarak, 84 and in ill health, is serving a life sentence in prison for his role.

College World Series: Gamecocks Erase Deficit Against Razorbacks, Advance To Final Series

OMAHA, Neb. ? The Arkansas bullpen's streak of scoreless innings ended at precisely the wrong time and cost the Razorbacks a spot in the College World Series finals.

Reliever Barrett Astin walked Adam Matthews with the bases loaded in the seventh inning, producing South Carolina's go-ahead run in a 3-2 victory Friday night and ended the streak at 26 innings.

The Gamecocks (49-18) will play Arizona in the best-of-three finals starting Sunday looking to win their third straight national championship.

Arkansas had won seven straight games decided by one run.

"South Carolina did a great job of manufacturing a run there late to win the game," Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said. "I just feel bad for our players. They fought hard."

Tyler Webb and Matt Price combined for seven innings of shutout relief for the Gamecocks, who are trying to become the first team to win three titles in a row since Southern California won five straight from 1970-74.

The Gamecocks beat Arkansas twice in three CWS meetings over five days after winning two of three against the Razorbacks during the Southeastern Conference regular season.

Arkansas had ended South Carolina's record 22-game win streak in the NCAA tournament with a 2-1 win on Monday. The Gamecocks forced a second bracket championship game with their 2-0 win on Thursday.

"I knew it was going to be tight and it didn't surprise me it ended up being a one-run game," Van Horn said. "Hats off to the pitchers, I thought they did a great job. I thought they filled up the zone all night long."

The Gamecocks erased a 2-0 deficit in the fifth, with Arkansas starter DJ Baxendale walking Christian Walker with the bases loaded to force in the tying run. Baxendale had a career-high five walks.

Matthews looked ready to swing on a 3-2 pitch from Astin in the seventh, but he held up as the slider dropped low and Joey Pankake trotted home for the go-ahead run.

It was the ninth walk issued by the Razorbacks.

Colby Suggs (7-1) took the loss for Arkansas (46-22).

Webb, who relieved Colby Holmes after the Hogs' first two batters reached in the third, allowed two hits in four innings.

Price (5-4), who gave up one hit and struck out five, pitched three innings to earn his record fifth career win in the CWS. Of his 48 pitches, 37 were strikes.

"Any time you get to the College World Series it helps your program," Van Horn said. "It's definitely going to help the confidence of the players in your program. Hopefully it helps build support among your fan base, and our fan base has been incredible."

Matt Reynolds drove in a run in the first inning to end a 0-for-15 slump. Reynolds had not had a hit since the fourth inning of the June 10 game against Baylor. It was the longest hitless drought of Reynolds' career. He drove in the Hogs' other run with a sacrifice fly in the third inning.

"Going to the College World Series has always been a dream of mine," Reynolds said. "We knew we had the team to do it this year. We went through a struggle midseason but we never gave up and we kept fighting, and I think we really jelled as a team early in the postseason. It's a bad feeling that it came to an end like this."

Tropical Storm Debby threatens Louisiana, Texas

Reuters | June 23, 2012 | 05:59 PM EDT

MIAMI (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Debby formed in the central Gulf of Mexico on Saturday and storm warnings were posted for part of the Louisiana coast, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

Debby covered much of the eastern Gulf and was centered about 220 miles south-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River. The storm had top winds of 50 miles per hour (81 km per hour) and was expected to strengthen slowly, nearing hurricane force by Thursday.

Debby was moving slowly north and was expected to turn to the west on Sunday. On the hurricane center's projected path, the storm would skirt the Louisiana coast through Tuesday and hit Texas late in the week.

A tropical storm warning was issued for the Louisiana coast from the Pearl River west to Morgan City, excluding the city of New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain. Residents were warned to expect storm conditions within 36 hours.

"Tropical storm conditions are expected to first reach the coast within the warning area by Sunday night, making outside preparations difficult or dangerous," the forecasters warned.

The combination of storm surge and high tide could cause flooding in normally dry areas near the coast, they said.

Debby could bring 3 to 6 inches of rain to the Gulf Coast from southern Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle, with up to 10 inches of rain in isolated areas.
