"He was so natural," Kardashian, 30, tells PEOPLE of her leading man's debut on the show, which returns to E! on Sunday. "I don't think he would have planned to be in a relationship that has cameras around and stuff like that, but he's done such a good job."
The latest season of the series, which began shooting in March, only months after the couple started dating, chronicles their budding romance ? their engagement was announced last month ? and efforts to make their bi-coastal relationship work.
"During the season, most of the time he was in New York playing basketball while we were filming, so you definitely see me going back and forth and trying to make my long distance relationship easier," Kardashian says. "I was out there in New York a lot with [sister] Kendall [Jenner] while she was modeling, so it was a good excuse for me to come out and visit. "
Adds the bride-to-be: "You'll feel like you're learning a lot about us ... [and] our relationship and get a good understanding of how we got so close and what our relationship is like."
The couple met in New York City after Kardashian wrapped Kourtney & Kim Take New York. Just months later, the cameras started rolling on their romance.
"We definitely wanted to make sure that we really got to know each other first before we even had him on camera," Kardashian says. "We took a few good months just to ourselves to make sure that everything was really just strong between us."
Kardashian may not have needed to coach her beau through his first foray into reality TV, but she did share this one tip: "No matter what, just be yourself ... that's the [best] advice."
